Cabin 7 is run by two friends, Jen Jafarzadeh L'Italien and Chris Haber, who met at an overnight camp when they were 11. They shared seven summers together as campers and then counselors — camp was home to many adventures. Their shop, Cabin 7, is named for one of their camp cabins. They know all the funny, quirky, and endearing qualities about each other that comes with knowing a friend since you were kids. So when they found themselves freelancing at the same time — one idea turned into another and this collaboration organically came together. They couldn't be happier.
about Jen:
She'll never forget all the details of her first photo shoot ever after landing in the home department of Real Simple. Jen fell instantly in love with the home market, decorating, organizing with pretty containers, and learning about living a greener lifestyle. After four years at Real Simple, she later worked as the home and lifestyle editor of Redbook magazine. Jen currently is a freelance writer and stylist, and she curates a daily blog called the Haystack Needle. She just launched a shop on Etsy under the same name. She's a passionate thrifter who loves the history and charm of vintage objects. Creating this Cabin 7 collection lets her collaborate with a dear friend, make handmade objects, and regularly scout flea markets. Jen lives in Brooklyn with her husband Dan and their baby girl Juniper.
about Chris:
She got her start at F.I.T. with a major in furniture restoration, though Chris has dabbled in many artistic mediums from glassblowing to painting. Following school, Chris worked as a gilder for the renowned Eli Rios at his furniture restoration studio, where she restored and gilded antiques. Chris currently designs a silkscreened fashion line called Lindon Habes. You can find her silkscreen designs, including the popular I ♥ ASTORIA shirts, in several shops, including her Etsy shop. Chris lives in Astoria with her husband Mike and two black-and-white cats with big personalities.
